 Monday Night Home-Made Bruchi's

Cheese Steak and Chicken Subs!

My husband and I are always trying to re-create the food we out at restaurants. Maybe we are frugal, maybe we love to cook or maybe we like to prove to ourselves how easy it is to make our favorite foods right at home!

This is another very versatile recipe. You can use peppers and onions. You can add your favorite steak sauce while cooking or just leave it plain with cheese for the kids. However you decide to create you sub, it will be all yours!

Cheese Steak Subs (Beef or Chicken)

* 1.5 lbs of top round beef or boneless skinless chicken breast
* 1 onion ( red, yellow, or white, it's really your choice)
* 1 green bell pepper (optional)
* 1 package of  melty cheese (your choice again, can be
   swiss, provolone, white American etc.)
* A-1 sauce for sauteing or another favorite steak sauce of yours
* 4-6 sub rolls

Start by cutting your beef or chicken into smaller pieces. Place the meat in your food processor and pulse three or four times until it has the desired consistency. For chicken you will have to pulse less because it is  more tender and processes more easily.
Then your going to want to slice and dice your onions and bell peppers. You can even add mushrooms if you'd like. Next you want to add everything in a hot skillet with some olive oil, salt and pepper and fry till the meat is cooked thoroughly. Just before it is finished cooking add in your A-1 or favorite steak sauce.

Turn off heat and leave in the pan while you prepare your subs. Slice your sub roll, but not all the way through. At this point you may want to add mayo and toast your bun under the broiler. Maybe you want it plain? Add a few slices of your favorite cheese and scoop some of that hot beef or chicken mixture onto your sub roll.   ENJOY!
